Iran’s Khorshid filmfest names NETPAC jury panel

The 7th Khorshid Int’l Independent Film Festival in Iran names NETPAC jury panel.

The 7th edition of the Khorshid International Independent Film Festival in Iran has named the members of jury at its NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema) section.

Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Yarmohammadi, Indian film critic and curator Anuj Malhotra, and French filmmaker and distributor Marc Haaz are on the panel.

Yarmohammadi is the founder and director of the Khorshid. Both the founder and the festival have recently become NETPAC members. The other two jury members were selected by the NETPAC secretariat.

The NETPAC award will be presented at the 7th Khorshid, under a cooperation agreement between the two sides, to recognize the quality of the best film chosen from the works of new Asia/Pacific directors.

The NETPAC award is comprised of a certificate given to the winner at the awards ceremony, presented by the president of the jury panel and information on the film and director (including sales and distribution sources) will be disseminated through NETPAC’s website, platforms and members.

Founded in 1990 in New Delhi, the NETPAC is the leading platform for the discovery and promotion of Asia Pacific cinema. Its secretariat is now located in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Khorshid International Independent Film Festival is an annual event in Tehran. The festival is considered as a unique event for Iran’s independent experimental cinema.

With “respect for human beings and the world” as the festival’s motto, the 7th Khorshid will be held in October 2019.
